How to trace out my PF account Number

I was working in GE APAR lighting Pvt Limited, in Channai, My PF account was managed by Head in Gujarat , Now unfurtunately I do not have contacts of MY employers as well they have also sold off the company to someone else. How to get my money back ?

What is the PF number mentioned in the Payslip or the PF statement slip?
This is the problem with many companies with HO in Maharashtra, Gujarat or elsewhere. I worked in a company with HO in Mumbai and to my knowledge, the PF claim has not been received by all the resigned employees who left three years ago.

The reason being that the companies in the North generally don't take it serious and we in the south are true in PF settlement. Mostly companies in the North have a group of companies X,Y,Z for various reasons and when name of one comapny is changed, the PF dues or any statuoty transfers are not taking place and continues in the old name. So the branch employees in the south assume that his PF dedcution is going for remittance into the company code.

Log on to www.epfindia.in and try typing the status of your comapny's PF code. The details are updated upto Sep-12 by the PF office. If you find a data corresponding to your company's PF code (so called code) that is with you, then you are lucky.

South is far..far.. better when compared to North. Of course, some companies are also dutiful in the North but a majority are not. Similarly some companies in the South have also started copying the evasive North model.

Please go and meet the PF redressal cell in Royapettah. Mr.Jayakumar is the Commissioner, RPF office (South) and will help you out.
