Dear Friends,

I want to know about the SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER of EPF. One of our employee as joined us 6 months back and now he wants to withdraw his PF of his previous company and they are asking to get him the SSN number now.

My query relating to this is can we get it done this in any place or not. When i had checked out with the local PF office in Mysore, they had confirmed me that they are yet to start processing this numbers in Mysore. So can we get it done in Mysore only if yes what is process and if not what is the alternate???

Kindly help me out to get this solved.

dear Amit,
SSN NO. is an exercise that is been carried out by most of companies nowadays, this ssn no. is a unique name assigned to an individual to help him out with an unique account no. assigned to him for lifetime,he can work in n no. of companies and need not to produce a pf transfer form.
in your case ,it is not a compulsion to have ssn no. an employee can transfer his fund by using form 13 ,and can use form 10c and 19 to avail fis funds
thanks and regards

Dear Amit,

Once he transfer his amount to your company PF account he will not be able to withdraw his money. So it is better he submits his PF withdrawal forms (Form 10, 19 c) along with SSN form to the previous employer. In such case he would be able to both get the PF withdrawal and SSN number from previous employer.

In absence of SSN, no transaction is made by PF Deppt. It has become mandatory to take SSN. Exact date is not known from when it came in force. Regards,

it is not madndatory as on date as process of obtaining ssn no. is still going on ,and in any case ssn no. cannot prevent you from taking loan at your pf account

In Haryana PF office has stopped entertaining any request for fund withdrawal without ssn no and has started sending ssn form along with rejected forms. You may also come across this process sooner or later. There is no escape.

It is not optional and even taking advance/loan from your pf account is not possible without ssn. regards

I also have this issue. I applied for transferring the PF to my PF account with current employer. My application has come back asking for SSN or an attached application form. I have applied for SSN in the past with the current employer, but I don't have a copy of it. So I am in a deadlock here. I cant apply for a new form for SSN, I cant get my old application form for SSN.

Dear Freind,

Moat of the Regional PF Offices are insisting SSN forms. If any enployee has not applied it is suggested to submit the same with the concerned area office. Some of the ofices providing the Numbered Applicaions and some of the offices providing Photocopy of the same without number. While submiting applications for withdrwal or transfer of PF if any employees has already applied for, plese mention the Application Number on the relevant forms for early action by the PF Authorities.
