Need Suggestions

Hi All,

I am working as HR Manager in a small organisation (software company). This is my first corporate experience as earlier I was involved in to enterpreneurship with the same profile. My total working experience is 6 years now and with my current organisation it is 1.8 years. Now I want to make a move from here as I haven't got a single appraisal since my joining though it was promised after 3 months then from April, 2007 but not yet done. I haven't got any negative feedback also and its not like that Company doesn't want to give me a hike but as HR is not a profit centre, it could be the reason they are not very keen to do that. I have discussed this thing with my Director he says that I am not getting enough time to sit with you. I am handling generalist profile over here. I am happy with my profile.

I want to ask that now as I am willing to change I am not suitable for junior position in HR and at senior position they requires 4-6 years of corporate experience. What should I do, should I accept some junior role or should wait for some better opportunity.

Dear Pratibha,
I would suggewt you to look for other oppturtunities in similar cader itelf. Do not lose hope your experience and exposure will fetch you a better job.

Thanks Sathiya for the quick response, Can you please suggest me one more thing that should I go in IT sector only or with a generalist HR profile I can move in any sector. I know moving to another sector won't be a problem but coming back to IT sector can become a problem if I join some other sector.

Dear Pratibha,

To get into a IT industry you need to be more strong in employee motivation and retention mechanism. Also, talent development and training are key in IT as it is ever changing.

If you want to get into manufacturing be strong in ER and statutory norms like PF , ESI etc. Once you gain the competencce you can choose based on you interest.

if u r handling generalist role then any sector willl do..i myself have workd in 3 different sectors so far ....it and not it....it shud nt b a problem...

since u ve entreprenuerial exp, getting a senior position in HR shudnt b a prob too.

Dear Pratibha
You need not loose your hope.
Have some patience.
If you want to shift, you can shift similar position only.
If you get junior position in bigger organisations, where future benefits and with decent hike,please accept the offer.
