Default Performance Appraisal Format

Dear All

I am Sujeet working with an edible oil industry as an Asst. Manager HR...

Till now we had outsourced our labours and employees upto the level of supervisors......

Now we are trying to keep people on rolls of the organisation.......

So we are require to develop some performance appraisal forms by keeping in mind, the level of employees at that level............

They are 8th or 10th, 12th pass...with no technical education...................They are working with us from last mroe then 10 years............

Most of them are of 30+ years......................

Can anybody guide us how to develop a performance appraisal form for these employees................by keeping all points in mind.

Wait for your response.

Regards
Sujeet

Hi Sujeet...

Since these employees have been with the company on a temporary basis for so long without a structured appraisal process, the appraisal format needs to be simple.

You can have something related to their major/key areas of performance, the measuring criteria for it, the target and then finally the achievement.

However, make sure that these Major performance areas are Specific, measurable, achievable, realistic and time bound ( S.M.A.R.T)
Also make sure that the communication to the employees regarding what they will be appraised on and the format to be followed is clear and enforced.

Regards

RS

Dear
You have stated that these employees are with you for more than 10 years.
As per labour ACT, if an employee has served in an organization for more than 240 days, he should be confirmed in the post without prejudice to any thing.
As far as assessing their potentiality, the "SMART" suggested will work excellent.
However, for appraisal you may coin your own assessment unbiased to any one.
I would like to suggest the following format:

1. Attendance to duty (Punctuality)
2. Leave taken during the period under review
3. Raising to the occassion (Whenever, the organization is in need of the assistance of the official, his contribution without mindful of his personal inconvenience)
4. Indebtness (Loans applied through the organization)
5. Sharing his knowledge with others
6. Obedience.
7. Guidance to his colleagues.
8. Ability to learn the work assigned.
9. Discharging potentiality of the assigned work.
10. Ability to improve the knowledge on the work assigned.
11. You can also ask his own appraisal in brief (say within 300 words)

I have given the above from my experience. If this is useful, I will be more happy.
