What Is HR Generalist Profile?? - Employee Handbook

yogiashok Started The Discussion:

Hi All,

Can anyone tell me what exactly HR Generalist profile means?
What are the things included in this prifile?
If I want to apply than how can I apply for this profile?
What is the procedure?
I want to grow more than a Recruiter's profile.

Regards,
Yogita

Dear Yogita
HR Generalist is playing a vital role and he/she must have though knowledge in HR gaumet viz. pre& post recruitment activities, MP planning, induction programme, T&D, C&B, performance appraisal, pay roll management, statutory compliance, handling of IR & ER issues, etc and the profile of a HR generalist will vary from organisation to organisation. Hence, the candidate who applies for the above position should have a through knowledge in the area of HR

Hi All

I feel that 'HR Generalist' is only a mirage as in no big Company does one get to do all the functions underlined so deeply in the above posts.
Over a long period of time in one's career one might get exposure to many fields within the vast gamut of HR but in practicality differnt individuals are taking care of activities like policies,T&D, R&R, Employee engagement, payroll, C&B etc.......that is to say that it is not practical and not even happening in any big Company I know of that 1 single 'HR Executive' is taking care of all these functions simultaneously.

A person may become a 'HR Generalist maybe 10 years down the line when he is at a very senior position but in the short run it is really only for name sake that one may truly call himself a 'Generalist' in the exact meaning of the term.

And.....neither is it easy in this field especially for freshers.....atleast the first 2 years are gruelling.
