this test actually test your ability to attend something in quickest possible time span, questions basically depends what area you normally belong, for Ex. if you are candidate seeking a job in accounts then lot of maths related questions would be there, sum of small additions , what comes next, logically arranging numbers etc will be the some pattern of questions , they want to know whether you will fit in with in the existing workforce and if you have the type of the temperment that is compatible with the job, Be honest in answering them

Send me an email with your email address and I'll send you the "Testing and Assessment: an Employer's Guide to Good Practices", Employment and Training Administration U.S. Department of Labor, 1999. It is good resource for the end user.

in general three types of tests or questionnaires can be used in assessment centres: aptitude tests, ability tests and personality tests.

aptitude tests are those which attempt to measure awareness, knowledge and other such aspects. they also measure simple skills like problem solving skills etc for eg a chapter pencil test could be administered to find out the familiarity or level of skill of the individual in relations to computer literacy, financial mgt skills etc

personality tests are those tests which are aimed at stduying various dimensions of personality rather than the ability. 16PF and MBTI are tests used in many organizations.

while the ability and aptitude tests have right or wrong answers, personality tests do not have the same.

the tests are selected for assessment taking the following points into considerations:

1. objective - wht needs to be measured

2. reliability and vailidity

3. length of time requied to adminster the test

4. availaibility of qualified exprts to administer, score and interpret the tests

5.cost involved.

hope it clear your query to some extent.

Dear MBTI stands for Myers Briggs Type Inventory. It is a widely accepted psychometric test and looks at 4 aspects of human thinking.EXTROVERSION/INTROVERSION,SENSING/INTUTION,THINKING/FEELING,JUDGING/PERCEIVING.MBTI identifies differences of people in a non-judgemental way and enables to resolve conflicts and helps focus on working together.Doing the test is a good kick start to help teams & team work. Here individual differences r seen as a resource to the team and people r encouraged to look at complementary strengths.

Dear Singh, Myers-Briggs indicator helps understanding personality types and 16PF helps measuring personality factors.Personality tests are meant to measure prospective employees motivation to function in a particular work environment. Most tests r designed 2 measure ones self-suffiency,sociability,locus of control &self-control.

Here You Go,,,,

Psychometric testing is recognized as a vital component in improving organizational effectiveness through the development of individual, interpersonal and team competencies.

Organizations use psychological tests as part of the selection process-recruitment, redundancy, promotion, and for developmental purposes-career guidance and counseling, personal or team development, succession planning. To understand better the factors that tend to predict best performers, testing can be used to identify common qualities amongst successful employees in a job category, so that those qualities can be looked at and trained for.

Properly developed psychometric tests and questionnaires, when used by competent and qualified individuals, lead to judgments that are likely to be more valid than judgments made by other means.
