Below are some additional points you should be aware of about tax saving fds. 1. only individuals and hufs can invest in tax saving fixed depositfd scheme. 2. the fd can be placed with a minimum amount which varies from bank to bank. 3. these deposits have a lockin period of 5 years. premature withdrawals and loan against these fd s are not allowed. 4. a person can invest in these fd s through any public or private sector bank except for cooperative and rural banks. 5. investment in post office time deposit of 5 years also qualifies for deduction under section 80 c of the income tax act 1961. 6. post office fixed deposit can be transferred from one post office to another. 7. one can hold these fd s either in 'single' or 'joint' mode of holding. in the case the mode of holding is joint the tax benefit is available only to the first holder. 8. the interest earned is taxable as per the investor s tax bracket and therefore tds is applicable. the interest on deposits is payable on either monthly/quarterly basis or can be reinvested. 9. nomination facility is available for these fds. 10. most banks offer slightly higher interest rates on fds to senior citizens as compared to the interest rate offered on the same fd to a nonsenior citizen. this interest rate differential exists for tax saving fds also

Kindly confirm on 5.7 years of continues services staff will eligible for 5 years gratuity or 6 years gratuity. i join the company 31.12.2012. my last day at this organisation 31.07.2018. my 5 & 7 so please how i am eligible 5 years gratuity or 6 years gratuity. because my organization told me u eligible only 5 years but i complete 5.7 years so excess six months already hence fore i eligible 6 years. please help me .

Hi all in this site i have read that for 5 years gratuity employee is eligible to get gratuity if he/she completes 4 years and 9 months. but in our company employee gets gratuity for 3 years of completion. so what does rule say ? employee has to complete 3 years to get gratuity or like 2 years and 9 months or something like that?

As per the indian gratuity rules a person needs to complete 5 years with a company. suppose a person joins a propreitary company which does not provide for gratuity.. after 4 years the company becomes a pvt ltd and starts gratuity.. now if the employee leaves after 3 years.. the total service is 7 years but the period under the pvt ltd is only 3 years.. will the employee be eligible for gratuity?
