Hi,
I have got an offer letter from the company, While accepting the offer i noticed that it had mentioned me to join not late than 22nd November as the letter was typed on 22nd October. I asked the manager and told him that its not possible to join on 22nd November as i would be putting my resignation only on 24th November as the date i collected was 23rd October evening. He said ok at that time and hence i signed the deal. Now the company HR is forcing me to join on 21st November and that the current employer is also not relieving me. I asked them to accept me joining on 28th November as mentioned when accepting the offer.
Now the problems that i forsee is can the new employer reject the offer take it away as i am not joining as mentioned in the offer letter.
I was informed about my offer only on 22nd October evening and i collected the same 23rd evening. I fear if i will lose both the jobs.
Please help
Thanks,
Janani

Can the new employer take away the offer just because i may not be able to join the dates he expects to join?
I have already explained this to HR and manager in person when collecting the offer letter. How much complex is this issue? Will it cost me a lot? My job?

Janani, your apprehension is correct. If they wish then they may withdraw their offer but usually the employers don’t indulge in such practices. The best solution is this problem is that meet them personally and give them a written assurance that you would join on a particular date. You may even give a copy of your resignation and the acceptance to them. In such cases they should not withdraw the offer but still the decision entirely remains in their hands.

So far they have just been trying to tell me to join earliest. They did not anyway express that they would take away the offer. But personally i fear if they would take bak the offer. I have already told them.
They first asked me to join on 15th November now they say 21st November. Even this date they communicated to me only after i asked an update on the joining date. If it was very urgent and compulsory they should have asynchrounously mailed me on this regard am i right?
