Salary Structure

Hi,

I would like to make a salary structure for the company i am working for. Can you help me fix salary for positions. How can i get the salary structures, how to conduct a salary survey and fix salary structure.What should be criteria i should bank on while fixing salary. Is there any web site which details all these things. Or if some one has done it can I have a step by step account to achieve the same. I would like to have info on Grading a employee.

I m in Tanzania in East Africa. I m facing similar problem. My company sigined a Collective Bargaining Agreement with a trade Union recently. Among the agreed issues is modification of salaries. I m obliged to recommend a new salary structure with positions.Should I maintain only the minimum basic salary in each category or I should consider seniority levels? Can any one assist with ideas?

Also.. it is basically upto the organization, wat % they want to keep as basic...as most of the IT firms keep their basic salary % between 40 to 55 ...depending on the poilicy of the comapny
