Dear All

Something important I would like to share to all. please make use of it.

Have u ever heard about LPG cylinder's expire date ….

How to find LPG cylinder's expiry date?

Very important information.

Do you know that there is an expiry date (physical life) for LPG

cylinders?

Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and may cause accidents. In this

regard please be cautious at the time of accepting any LPG cylinder from

the vendor.

Here is how we can check the expiry of LPG cylinders:

On one of three side stems of the cylinder, the expiry date is coded

alpha

numerically as follows A or B or C or D and some two digit number

following

this e.g. D06.

The alphabets stand for quarters -

A for March (First Qtr)

B for June (Second Qtr)

C for Sept (Third Qtr)

D for December (Fourth Qtr)

The digits stand for the year till it is valid.

Hence D06 would mean December qtr of 2006.

Share this message with everyone you know, UR kind cooperation will save

life of many people and create awareness among the public.

Please do not accept the cylinder if the date has already expired.

'A' stands for the first quarter ie January to March and

'07' stands for the present year 2007.

We all were still confused with the terms used above.

A-07 indicates the expiry life of cylinder and due for hydro testing.

This cylinder should not be used after the first quarter and should be returned to the gas dealer.

Expired Cylinders are not safe for use and may cause accidents.

ALL concerned should take necessary steps.

Thanks

Dear Tiwari,
Thanks for the information. Can you tell me will those expired cylinders be reused after hydro testing. If so will the new expiry date be put again on the cylinder, if yes how to find it out. This information will be still more useful. Waiting for your reply.

Dear Murthy:
Whatever may be the case, before the cylinders are ready for distribution, on one of three side stems of the cylinder, the expiry date has to be coded alpha numerically from which one can easily understand the expiry date. Coding is essential as per statutory and legal requirements. If there is no code means the cylinder is faulty.

same kind of information is also available for tyres. the expiry date of the tyre is put on the tyre. check your tyres before you buy and while in use.
validity of the tyre is only 4 years after the date of manufacturing. thereafter the tyres many burst.
how to find out whether your tire has expired?
check for a stamp like this - (*2603*).
there is an asterisk at the beginning and at the end of this serial number. the first two numbers 2 6 will tell which week of the year has it been manufactured. this will go upto 52, as one year has 52 weeks.
the last two numbers represent the year of make.
therefore, *2603* shows that the said tire is manufactured in the 26th week of the year 2003.
*2699* this shows that the tire is made in the 26th week of 1999.
Check all your tyres for safety purposes. Do not use expired tyres. They are likely to burst (especially when running in hot weather) because the rubber component may have hardened and cracked.
