Default Growth chart of an IT Recruiter.

Hi Friends,

With the advancement of the IT sector, the IT Recruiter profile has come into prominence lately. I would appreciate of you could throw some light on the growth chart of an IT Recruiter.

I would also like to know the parameters that are required for this profile. Is the transition of an IT Recruiter from a consultancy firm to a Software Company possible? I would like to have your valuable suggestions and comments on this.

Awaiting your response.

Regards,
Zenobia.

Dear Zenobia,

2 main parameters required for an IT recruiter are Technical Mind and Patience (Coz of high employee turnover in the IT Industry !!!)

Yes its very much possible to move from a consultancy to a software company...Infact it is in the consultancy that you get a very good exposure to the industry...

Regards
Rashmi

Hi Friends,

An interesting topic to discuss. Lots of us would like to know the growth of an IT recruiter after the transition from a Consultancy to a Corporate.

Most of us have an ambition of getting into "Generalist" HR after a stint of 2 to 3 years in core recruitment. What would be the time frames for this and what would be the requirement to get into this role. I have been speaking to many recruiter friends of mine and have always come across this answer, with a very very less percentage of them wanting to continue and grow in recruitments only.

any discussion on this welcome

Regards

Dear All,

Good Morning!

This is really an interesting topic to discuss and have some brain storming.

Moving in to a software company from consultancy is the next step as part of one's career growth, specially if you have started your career with recruitments. I feel that for getting in to recruitments department of any company once should have good experience in to consulting field first.

I agree with most of the people that after an experience of 2-3 years in Recruitments one should try to get in to other Core HR Activities, But I have different opinion......... based on the fast changing IT Industry there will be a time soon when companies will be looking for a specialist's in a area they wish to, i.e, recruitments, appraisals, payrolls..........

And I feel that recruitments is a more challenging than other HR activities.

Hi Sridhar,

Interesting point you brought forward. "Specialization"

Can a perosn specalize in recruitment and if yes, what do you think would be available options.

There could be a lot of takers for this, as this particular topic has not been discussed regularly as the transition from recruitments to Core HR has been. It could give a lot of options for the young entrants into the recruitment field who are at the cross roads right now.

Dear Raghavendra,

Well I don't know about the other topics in HRM, but yes you can be come a specialist in Recruitments.

These are lots of institutes which have a certification program's in Recruitments like

  • BrainBench certification in Recruitments
    Executive recruiters association(ERA) and
Middle earth Consultants in India which provide certification on "Certified Recruitment Analyst"

If any of us know any other association which provides the certification programs in Recruitments, then please let me know.

Hi Shirdhar,
I agree with u. I myself would be intrested in doing some specialized course in Recruitments.

Hi Zenobia,

Your chances of moving from a consultancy to a company as a recruiter are high if u are already handling IT placements.

What it takes to be a good recruiter are good sourcing skills - strong network and quickness of response. Anything thrown at you, u need to start the process.

regards,
Amrit.
