Hello Friends,

Myself Bob, i'm the HR for a private firm who are into NBFC platform. recently i have been told to do some employee motivation activities in my office which occupies nearly 48 employees. the management needs their employees to have a positive approach to their work and workplace which is quite normal but the challenge is the management is bit pulled back when it comes to giving away some awards or anything which demand to spent some money on it.

Now my issues are,
1. Employees don't trust the management since the management has rejected or delayed too long for replying to any request put forth by the employees
2. Demotivated managers
3. No support from the managers as they are having a negative attitude towards any employee acitivties which i plan, whereas according to them nothing is gonna work.

Now, if some one could suggest me a solution to the above mentioned issues, it would be of great help to me.

Neverthless i need you guys to help me out with some in-house activities and plans which can be executed in a daily, monthly and quarterly fashion. I used to sent in logical questions to the entire team just to give them a break off their work and gathers answers through mail, which started off good but again the managers were not too fond of doing it as they were have a sarcastic approach to it.

In short : I need in-house activities for employee motivation, solution to keep the employees motivated.

Thanks & Regards,

BoB

Dear Bob,

Are you from India or from some other country? If from India then are you from Chennai? Couple of months ago, I had call for training on "Mentoring" to uplift the employee motivation. The client was from Chennai.

In your post itself you have given causes of employee demotivation. Therefore, you need to remove those causes. This is the in-house activity.

Employee motivation is result of organisation's culture and culture is shaped by the top leadership. Therefore, for whatever you do, you need to have buy-in from your top management. Without their support nothing is going to change.

The subject of employee motivation comes up for discussion time and again. You could have checked this forum. Anyway click the following links. These are my replies to the past posts. These will be useful to you to eradicate the causes of employee demotivation.

Dear Dinesh,
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, i am from cochin and we are into the debt management for UAE banks. well i have thought of getting in the consultants to spark up some sessions for my employees, but unfortunately the top management is not convinced with the idea of having a third party working on this issue.
The reason being, i had this option for working out a platform for the employees to share their thoughts on how good we can make the work nature can be improved but again whatever i put in front of them they have a reluctant response to it.
My idea was to first initiate a change in the current work culture by slightly deviating them from the daily routines and make them understand that we can opt for some activities as well.
However i will definitely visit the links you have shared and thanks again for your view on this.
Good Day.

Hi Bob,
I would have loved to work with you on this.
Your steps should be as follows:
1) Data gathering to support your conclusions - from exit interviews, employee surveys (for this you can use a consultant so that the management cannot say that you are biased) and performance management reports.
2) Costs - calculate your costs of hire, and the cost of a position being vacant, and showcase alongside attrition figures.
3) Implement a suggestion scheme. if possible - I know it didn't work in the past
Thereafter, you can draft activities to engage the employees.
Hope this helps. You can call me on 9820155778 for a discussion.
All the best.
