Default Advice & Help Required for conducting Salary negotiation
Hello,
I am an IT professional with 9 years of US experience and have come back to India for good. As I have not been in touch with Indian Market for the past 8 years I request your inputs. I think its better to be informed of all the pros and cons rather than nursing a grouse for having been taken for a ride. Appreciate your help very much.

Questions

1. I have been getting conflicting reports regarding salary that I can expect in the IT market. I have 9 years of experience in Mainframes, AS/400, managing a little bit of web development and Project Management. PMI Certified. How much can I expect as a senior PM or Program Manager with big companies like Infosys, Wipro, Accenture

2. What questions should I ask the HR representative when negotiating the salary package ?

3. No offense meant, but what precautions should I take to safeguard my interests (prevent being taken for a ride)?

4. I heard that that companies are baking everything that they can conceive of into the CTC(like company's contribution to PF, cafeteria costs etc) and ultimately the net pay check is far less than the gross they state on the letter. So if I am offered X amount per month (CTC) how much net amount should I expect.

5. Anything else that I need to be aware of to make the exercise and subsequent association mutually beneficial (both for employer and self)

Thanks for your input. Appreciate it very much
