Hi Pallavi,

The amendments in the Payment of Bonus Act are as follows:

1. Sn 2 (13) - definition of employee - any person other than an apprentice employed on a salary or wage not exceeding ten thousand rupees per mensem in any industry......

2. Sn 12 - Where the salary or wage if an employee exceeds three thousand rupees per mensem, the bonus payable to such employee under Sn 10 or, as the case may be, under Sn 11, shall be calculated as if his salary or wage were three thousand five hundred rupees per mensem

This means all employees with salary (Basic + DA) of upto Rs. 10,000/- will be covered under the Act. But for calculation of bonus, employees with salary of more than Rs. 3,500/-, the calculation will be as if her salary was Rs. 3500/-.

Can you tell me applicability means period ?

Is this amendment for April 2006 to 2007 or April 2007 to2008 ?

I want to exact period from which date it is applicable ?

Pallavi,

I think, it may be for the financial year 2007-2008. Because the bonus for the FY 2006-2007 is ready for disbursement everywhere.
But as far as my perception is concerned, the actual period of implementation of this amendment will be decide after coming winter session in parliament in Nov-07

Dear All,
Could anyone tell me that what is the mathod to calculate bonus of an employee? let say one employee having 40 actual present day in Six months. how should we calculate his bonus? how we calculate his monthly bonus if he present 18,22 days for two months.
