Hi Raj,

Here is the JD of the HR Generalist in Hospitality Industry

1. To Manage End to End HR Generalist Activities, viz, Recruitment, Payroll, Performance Management, Employee Relations, Statutory Compliance, Employee Engagement Activities.

2. To coordinate with all the HOD and understand their manpower requirements and fill the vacancies at the earliest.

3. To maintain Employee Attendance and generate salaries through the software.

4. To maintain KRA's and to follow up with them for their monthly MIS.

Ensures accurate database of staff records, which should be consistently updated.

Implements and follows through Employees Recognition Programs, i.e. Innovation Award, Honesty Award.

Ensures a high level of employees delighting activities within the department.

To walk the talk and be a role model in delighting our customers.

Recognizes team members for outstanding delivery of employees delight services. To promote usage of employees delight team forms.

Be visible and accessible to all employees and follow through all actions.

Be effective in utilization of employees profiles and be consistent in delivery of services.

Maintain strong relationship and goodwill with all employees.

Personally handle complaints and counseling.

Ensure high level of recovery from unhappy incidences concerning employees.

Facilitate the process of staff recruitment:

Keep records of all approved staff requisition forms.

Maintain Vacancy Lists compilation.

Compile and screen applications

Compile monthly head count report for VP-HR and all Divisions.

Prepare certificates, gifts or cash prizes for employees Town meeting.

- Coordinate with the relevant department for the submission of the evaluation forms before expiry of the probationary period.

- Check if finished hotel orientation and department training.

- Update in the Computer and personnel file for staff transfers, promotions and salary adjustments. .

- Coordinate with paymaster for the information administration of transfer, promotion and salary adjustment.

Maintenance of the resignation record.

Compiles PAF from Department Heads to Manager HR and Financial Controller for approval.

Coordinates with Finance on payment and verify balance of outstanding leaves.

Arranges exit interviews for rank & files personnel.

Prints staffs Attendance Record List (from 1st of last month to 30th or 31st of current month) to all Dept Heads.

Collects and checks reviewed Staff Attendance records from Dept Heads. Reports to Finance if there is any inconsistency.

- Prints Full-Attendance list quarterly and sends to Dept Heads.

- Collects and checks the reviewed Full-Attendance List returned by Dept. Heads. Send to Finance after obtaining HR Manager and Financial Controllers signatures.

Hi Raj,
Just to share my opinion.... In Hospitality Industry, no HR can do all kind of activities. It is better if you think recruitment as another division. One can concentrate on recruitment and one for rest activities. JD provided by Ravish is sufficient. Broadly there are these following activities:
1. Recruitment,
2. Legal Compliances,
3. Employee Engagement, and
4. Payrolls.

Mr. Ravish with reference to your JD i have created this one..Actually I handle all the HR department of this hotel and there is no Manager whom i report to. but since i have less experience they have given me the designation of HR Executive.

JD -

 To Manage End to End HR Generalist Activities viz. Recruitment, Performance Management, Employee Relations, Employee Engagement Activities, Statutory Compliance.

 To coordinate with the entire HOD and understand their manpower requirements and fill the vacancies at the earliest.

 Assist Department Heads in customizing Job Descriptions.

 Handling Industrial Relations and Labour Union Issues of the Hotel.

 Provide advice to the General Manager which will assist in the meeting of strategic objectives.

 Plan Bonus, commission and incentives schemes for the relevant staff.

 Transfer and promotion procedures

 Wages and Salary Administration.

 Designs HR Forms, documents and processes.

 Prepares efficient work schedules considering the hotel and labour requirements.

 Handling employee queries & grievances.

 Approves leave after considering hotel requirements.

Raj if there is No HOD in your department that means you are directly reporting to GM and your JD is fair that depends upon manpower strenght in your property and as per the requirement of your General Manager. Depending upon size and requirements.

Dear Mr. Ravish
Yes there is no any senior person in my HR department whom i reports to. I directly reports to the company's directors, vp, GM and a Corporate Head HR. I hv been handling full HR department of this property by myself. the employee strength of this Hotel is 150 only...
