We are using Lifting Hook in Storage Bin,cell,Fabricated chimny for material Lifting, shifting and erection purpose by Hydra and Cranes on various project
So i want to know,How can calculate load limit for Lifting Hook,according to weight?
eg;-

Weight-5.5 Tone
Dia-5.8 Meter
Height-3 Meter
Lifting hook-4
* Require detail of Lifting Hook for safe Lifting.................................

It is designer’s domain. Designer has to provide the details of location of hook and hook size. Pon

Even I am not exactly aware about how to calculate the hook dimensions...
During discussion with one of my colleague who works with one of the leading engineering company, what he told that they are using a software for this purpose... Just need to enter the dimensions of the piece to be lifted, then the software gives output of the dimensions to be measures for the hook... Even this software will tell you the Centre of Gravity of the load to be lifted and exactly where the hook to place...
Would expect more participation into this thread to learn more....
