Hi Veena,

Competency Mapping is a sort of a Model or a format of Competency which consists of all the required competencies & abitlities of a person to perform a particular job or a role.

There are different kinds of competencies like Generic or Behavioural , Managerial, technical/Functional Competencies.

The above categories are mapped based on the organisational requirements its current & future picture of the its pprojections.

I could give you a very short description as Im running short of time.
