Dear All
I am planning to deliver free of cost Self Help & Personal development Trainings to School & College students in Karachi,Pakistan. The reason behind this is to build my own knowledgebase and enhance my communication & public speaking skills.
I would request all of you to please suggest whether this idea will be a good one and what topics can be included in this series.
Thanks & Best regards

I think it's great to offer your services free of charge as a way to gain exposure and experience. What are the goals you have in mind for the learner? What are you hoping they will take away from this experience with you? This will help shape the topic listing.

Dear Selfless Soul
I dont happen to have much knowledge of students in Pakistan. But I have few sugeestions, which I experienced here in India.
Dont give anything free, charge at least 50p, cos anything free is worthless, in the eye of the reciever.
You will find freeloaders plenty, but only take those genuinely in need.
You can attach yourself to an organisation and do what you need to
Then to improve public speaking you need to have an audience who will give you a proper feedback, because either you will mislead them or they you.

Dear Asad,

Adding to what Lisa has already pointed out, what you are asking will depend on your reasons for providing the free training as well as the environment.

For example, if you are doing this out of the goodness of your heart (which you obviously are) and intend to do so for a long time, you should have the means to provide for yourself and your family. If you are doing this as a part of an NPO/NGO that will take care of your sustenance and the objective is to improve the productivity and capability of Pakistani students, then forge right ahead but do charge a nominal fee so that your training is valued.

On the other hand, if you are planning on this training to build goodwill and create a brand for yourself which will enable you to charge for your training at a later point of time, then you should take some steps (such as collecting student testimonials, feedback, placement rates, etc.)

The short answer to your question "will it work?" is: if you believe it will.

Good luck and wish you all the best.

@ M. Peer Mohamed Sardhar ---- Thanks 4 reply & ur supportive role

@ staff086----Thx for reply-ur suggestion will really help me in deciding the topics

@ lisa and Srinivas ----

Thx for reply,I agree with what u said - To earn money NOW is not wat i am looking for,no doubt I have plans for this in my future but currently I am intending this coz to build my own self,to builkd my own public speaking skills, confidence & to find out how the audience react, wat they want and wat they dont want ...bla bla....Rather u can say this will be a sort of practice for me & as Srinivas said,i am intending to build a brand which will help me later in..Furthermore i i must say that I have a deep interst with personal development & i want to spread this wateva i have learn and starting with a platform of students will help me in wat i am looking for.

Attaching my self formely is unfortunately not possible at this time bcoz of certain reasons thats y i wont be able to join any however i will after sumtime.

Thanks all for contibuting...I hope u will continue helping me in this regard

Prayers n Best wishes for all

Dear Asad,
You show great promise as a trainer.
This I say by the matter you keep posting on this site.
"There is nothing called a free lunch"-goes the saying.
it just goes to mean that anything given free of cost does not hold much value & the effort yu will put in will go to waste.
The 1st attitude you need to bring into your trainees at the begining of the session is value for the skill being imparted.
this value makes them interact with you more as the tendency is to do 'paisa vasooli' & this in turn is good for both the parties.
Would suggest you charge something nominal & the rest will be smooth sailing.
Will help you whenever required.
You could email on .
All the very best.
regards
Gouri
