Hi All,
I have been in the IT industry for 5+ years now. In the current year appraisal cycle, I was rated as "Outstanding" and was promoted to next level.
The Salary hike given is lesser than the previous year where I was rated as "Achieved Expectations".
Also the current salary after the hike is less than the Market value. I had discussed the same with my Manager and Directors previously and they had promised to take care of it during this year. Now, my Manager says the budget for this year is very less and hence the salary hikes are not much.
I have not accepted the appraisal letter and have asked for discussion with the Senior Management and HR.
How should i go ahead for the discussion with the Senior Management and HR ?
Will there be any changes that they can do ?
Thanks.

Hello Sir,
Increment and appraisal process is based on the fundamental condition of company.Management has limited funding to provide increment/appraisal/and other compensation and benefit to employees.
So based on funding might be possible company is not doing well than previous year, your Manager has replied the same and you needs to support the same in this situation.
May be next year if company will have good fundamental condition than you will receive more than any previous year.
May company will have different incentive or any other benefit plans for employees in up coming future.
Please senior puts your light in this matter.
Thanking you,
Regards,
Ashish

Hi Ashish,
Thanks for your quick response.
I would like to add few more information on this.
Regarding the Company performance, the company is doing very well and the company stocks are all time high.
Over the last one year, company has acquired 2 more companies.
One more question I have is, as I have received the promotion this year, in next year appraisal, my rating would be Average. So, based on that, even the hikes would be less.
So, in these conditions why cant the Management or HR put forward this case as exceptional and get the market corrections ?
Thanks,

In the present scenario too many players have entered the IT field. Now it is the case of "Survival of the fittest". If the Company has to survive, it has to cut down its Revenue expenditure. That's why, your annual hike is below normal,in comparison with previous hike.Nothing prevents you to put forth your case before HR and Sr.Management.Be prepared for pat on your shoulder and pep talk, without any gain. Wait for good days or try for a change.
All the best.
