I am new to this site. I have almost five plus years of experience into Customer Service(CSR & Team Lead) & did MBA in HR.

My problem is I want to continue my career as a Hr. So I have left my job and started applying for Assistant HR Jobs.

Recently i have got a job as a Hr in a small startup It Company, consists of 9-10 members including me. Now I’m not able to understand what exactly my job role here, as i have completed my MBA through distance mode i don’t any have any concepts in my mind and here there is no one to guide me in my duties and my Boss want wonders to be made in his company. As a team lead i use to take final round interviews to the scheduled interview’s and use to conduct activities and taking care of employees relation and attrition

Request you all to suggest me what should i do in this regard. Shall i join some training courses like Hr Training Institutes? Which area of HR can be good for me. What courses I can do for this. Eagerly looking for all of yours suggestion & guidance.

Hi,
I would like to say you that - first start interacting with employees and know there interest towards job, after interacting with employees you will come to know what next should be done, note down the points what changes should be done to improve the organization and employee satisfaction and do it immideatly by taking approval from your Boss. and once in 2 months coduct any activites and give any gift vochers if you do this then you can see very low attrition rate. and observe the employees daily and visit once or twice in there respective place inorder to take your control then see, after 2 or 3 months you can see so many changes and your Boss will appreciate you and he will slowly slowly share his thoughts what should be done next.

Hi ,

Welcome on ciehr commuity!! I can understand the whole scenerio as i have gone through with same situation. I am the only HR in my organisation & trying to handle all the responisibilties of HR at my best. SO i would advised you to take initiatives and approval from your boss and start your work of setup of HR depatrment in your organisation.

If you are planning to implement some policies, try to understand the implication it can have. What are the benefits for the organization and the employee. Also you can discuss the new polices which needs to be implemented with senior managers etc first before implementing in the whole organization along with your manager. You need to make them understand the benefits of that.

Also you can start some employee engagement activities which will give some confidence to the employee that you are there for them also. And start communicating to the staff about what are you doing for them and their benefit. This will give them a hint that whatever you are doing is not just because the management asked you to do so but also because there is hidden benefits for the employees as well. And on citehr you will get every HR related information you can learn on daily basis as topic wise as i do. Wish you good luck.

Hi seniors,
First of all thanks to Yogendra & Supriya.
Now, I’m doing the same job, I’m interacting with the employees and trying to the know their challenges but no one came out of any problem except with the 6 day working environment.
Can you guide me, which policies should i implement for 6 employees.
Past 1 week before I have scheduled interview and screened out few interview’s but my boss asked them to keep hold of the interview’s.
I’m waxed up sitting idly for every day.
