How globalisation has influenced the evolution towards a more significant and strategic Human Resource Management functions?

globalisation have given challenges like cross cultures, and meeting with different type of people from different continents with different mentality and different ways of doing work.

My thoughts on the subject are :

An organisation achieves it's business goals through it's people only.Globalisation brought in it's wake competition to the business in respect of quality of servcies and goods as well as transnational employment opportunities and widening employment market within India.This led to new challenegs to HR in the form of work place diversity, looking for core comeptencies at the time of hiring, developing cutting edge competencies in the existing staff and problem of retention of talent. In the process of dealing with the challenges, the HR evolved in being innovative in introducing various inititives to retain talent like employee engagement, rewards and retention and learning and devlopment and in acting as change agent in building value based culture and in assuming a leadership role in achieving business goals by aligining employee's core competencies and performance to business goals.Thus HR is on the path of evolving itself as startegic partner in the business..

Globalization has to be catered for in the design of HR Software products to enable organizations to manage people operating from multiple locations, to be paid in different currencies, with widely varying parameters related to local compliance, catering to time management as per the global differences, enabling leave & holidays management as applicable to different units/ locations, managing data in multiple languages, AND yet providing a centralized data base for corporate controls, without limiting the independence through distributed processing.

Use of right technology to manage HR in an environment of mergers & acquisitions, for a global reach, is tending to be an important need.
