A well articulated article Sir.
I had been a shy child and though I was quite intelligent, as was mentioned had been always ignored. Most people did know that I had been one amongst the top performers but the interaction was next to nil.
Fortunate enough to have realized this at the right time and my mba helped me to shift.

Brave of you to acknowledge that.
I too have been shy at a point in time and sought to glorify it by believing that those who talk well are empty show offs while my inability to talk well somehow signified my super human intelligence.
Thankfully, I met many intelligent people who talked very well too - and realized there is no glory in having an inside of gold but being silent like a boiled egg!
