Default Career Guidance

Dear All,

I have been in Corporate Sales for more than 8 years out of which the last 4 years have been in the Sales of jobsites like jobsahead and monster. Now i am very much keen on taking recruitment as my career but unfortunately i am not able to get any openings in that industry and whatever job offers i am getting is all purely in to Sales.
I would request you all to pls guide me in to how can i be a part of a Recruitment / Offshore / Contracting Companies based on my last 8 years of Sales.
Would appreciate if you could also know how can i go about developing my career in to this industry.
Looking forward for your replies.
Thanks

ROAD MAP SALES TO RECRUITMENT /SELECTION

This is not impossible, but it needs the extra work input.

Your current competences , based on your experiences
in selling are
-prospecting
-sales presentation
-persuasion
-negotiation
etc.

First step,
-seek a sales job with a recruiting / selection agency.

Second,

-while performing on the sales job with a recruiting /
selection agency, pick the knowledge of the following
*need for your agency
*defining the need for filling the position
*how the job analysis is conducted
*how the job description is defined
*how the job specification is made
*how the job conditions are defined
*how the job position competences are determined.
*how the compensation is determined
*how the ads are made
*how the induction porgram is defined/conducted
etc etc

Third,

-while performaing on the sales job with a recruiting /
selection agency, learn/ develop these approaches
on a number of positions.

Fourth,

DOCUMENT THESE LEARNINGS, AS REFERENCE
POINT.

Fifth,

Take the opportunity to do a diploma in HR.

Sixth,

-update your knowledge continually --reading books/
HR magazines/ scanning HR websites/ various other
websites on white papers on this subject.

SO based on these efforts, over a period of 2 years,
you can pack sufficient knowledge / skills/abilities to
move into a career in recruiting / selection.

ONCE AGAIN IT IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE,
BUT A DETERMINED EFFORT WILL TAKE
YOUR DESIRED CAREER.

regards

Hi Leo,

How are you and thanks a lot for your guidance and would definitely try to follow such steps but the major issue which i am not able to solve is the Salary issue as the current drawing which i have and by the method which you have suggested takes me far down the level. For e.g my current Salary is 75,000 and by taking such step i might have to compromise for 20,000 which i am failing to understand as to how can i cover my living cost also.
Would appreciate if you could give me more insights on how to handle this issue also.
Awaiting your reply.

MOST of the sales job in the recruitment field include

-base
-commission
-bonus on performance
-plus the usual travel exp
etc

DURING the 2 year period, while learning / managing the
career change,

put extra hour / extra effort to increase your commission/ bonus
that is where you try to make up the pay packet.
