Do we need to take any permission or exemption from labour authorities or if we are required to intimate any labour authority for employee to work on weekly off / public holiday / festival holiday / statutory holiday / national holiday / election holiday.

Hello i would like someone to advise if the company that i work for is correct with the following a it is compulsory to work on a national holiday with the holiday payment. bif the employee dose not want to work on a national/festival holiday he would have to surrender a privileged leave for that day. the company is registered under "shops and establishment act" and this requirment is for private airline staff working at an airport. thank you andy
Inclusion of public holiday instead of national holiday falls on sunday
I am working in the hr department of an it company kolkata. i have to prepare the holiday list for 2014 and must submit it to the management by november 1st week. we have 14 holidays in a calender year in our organization. while preparing the holiday list of 2014 i find a national holiday i.e. republic day falls on sunday. i just want to know to maintain the numbers of holidays can i include other public holiday janmashtami or saraswati puja or sivratri instead of republic day? or it is mandatory to include republic day although it is a sunday? here i think comes the question of employee benefits also. i really need advice. please help.
Wages for national holiday
Dear all need clarification on national festival holiday. if national holiday falls on sunday we need to give extra wages to workers or can we extend the holiday for that particular year or it is ok no need do any thing. kindly do the needful regards rohith
How much an employee is entitled to be paid if they work on a public holiday as per indian labour law?
Hi i m working in a private software company. since i m working on a 247 project i usually don t get saturday and sunday as holidays. but i do get 2 weeks offs between monday to friday. but that is not the issue. sometimes we are asked to work on public holidays / national holidays. during these holidays even though we work we are not paid an additional salary or comp off. instead if we choose not to go office these days they mark it as a lop so please tell me how much an employee is entitled to be paid if they work on a public holiday as per indian labour law. please note i m from india and i work in a private firm.
