It depends upon the group gratuity policy you have taken from the Insurance institutions.
Generally, there is a separate life cover also...thats apart from the regular gratutity coverage paid at the time of separation from the establishment.

Hi Mukesh,
There is also a concept called future service gratuity that is beneficial to the employees in case of an unfortunate event the nominee of the employee is entitled for the entire amount of gratuity the deceased employee would have received had he worked till retirement in the company.
Hence better than other normal gratuity schemes.

An employee served continuous service for 4 year,in the fifth year he served for 15 days then fell seriously ill ,could not continued duty and later died with in 50 years of 5th year.
will he be eligible for gratuity.if yes what amt if his basic is rs, 7000

Please refer Sec. 4 of the Payment of Gratuity Act, which says that completion of continuous service of five years shall not be necessary .........................is due to death or disablement.

Dear Friend,
If basic is Rs.7000/-, his nominee will get an amount of Rs.16154/- for four years of service. In death cases no minimum service is needed to get gratuity benefit.
