hi
STRATEGIC MGT CONSISTS OF 3 STEPS
STRATEGY FORMULATION
STRATEGY IMPLEMTATION
STRATEGY EVALUATON
VISION STATEMENT IS THE FIRST STEP OF FORMULATION STAGE. IT COMES FIRST, THEN COMES MISSION STATEMENT AND OBJECTIVES.
BUT THERE IS NO SUCH HARD AND FAST RULES.ANYONE CAN BE MADE FIRST.

Well, talking in general terms...
Without vision there cannot be a mission....VISION foreruns the mission....WITHOUT CLEAR VIEW OF THE FUTURE, MISSION MAY TURN IMPOSSIBLE....
BIBLE SAYS "Where there is no vision, the people perish" in Proverbs...Vision propels the mission...in general terms...
A project has been started with a vision, but in the middle of the project vision was lost and mission become a failure.... Vision keeps people moving towards the goal....the mission
Even in storms of life, if there is a VISION, WHICH PRESERVES THE FAITH AND HOPE...HELPS ACCOMPLISH THE MISSION...
Can I have your comments?....

Although Vision statement has been defined first in books also but there is lot of chaos in practical as some of the orgainsation consider mission first.
I think while framing vision statement comes first but when we come in the process of achieving & moving towards reaching those set goals we first achieve mission(which moreover defines what the organisation is all about ,what they seek to do rather then what they aspire to be down the line) which then ulitmately leads to reach the vision
Both are interrelated without one the other is incomplete........

Hi,
Chronologically it is indeed the Vision that is present before the Mission is created.
Vision's are usually the brainchild of one person, the founder, the creator or the Venture Capitalist..in word a LEADER...They are not created, they form....
Missions are on the other hand Created, they are goals that will be met, they include tangibility and they include a path. Mission tells us the HOW and the WHY?
Vision tells us the WHAT and the WHERE?

Without vision how can u create a mission? A mission is based on the vision that is created.
