My dear friends,

As HR Professionals occupying a pivotal position in any organization performing important roles, we must enjoy the support of our subordinates as also that of colleagues in other departments across the organization.

This unconditional support can be possible only when we enjoy the respect of those we interact day in and out. Right from the punitive Personnel Department era to the present day Human Resources Development culture prevailing in all organizations, HR professionals are the most blamed lot for many obvious reasons.

The position one occupies may fetch him/her respect across the organization whereas the reality is different. Many people tend to show overt respect as a matter of routine and custom and not necessarily the moral respect. Under the circumstances how can we command respect from others and why people tend to show scant respect is discussed by me in my article:

Respect from Subordinates - Do You Command or Demand? <link updated to site home> ( Search On Cite | Search On Google )

Please read and opine, as usual. Healthy comments from those in the field will throw more light on the discussion.

Regards.

Dear Sir,
I read your article and i totally agree with the lines "Those who prefer to project humane touch, positive attitude and decent behavior with excellent colleague-ship than their qualifications, knowledge, skills and position they occupy win over the hearts of their subordinates and command respect among them".
Respect has to earned by the way we conduct ourselves at the work place.

Good Afternoon
Sir
We all want the respect of our coworkers but it doesn't come automatically no matter what your position is or how many initials you have after your name. Respect is not a right, it is an earned privilege, that can be broken in an instant with a bad choice. We all have horror story about co-workers that we, ourselves, don’t respect and people will be quick to tell you why they do not respect others.
We cannot demand respect, we cannot force respect. The line is coming from a place of integrity. Doing the right thing. If you always come from a place of integrity, people may not always agree with you, people may not always like you, you may not always be right, but you will have the peace of mind that comes from trying your best and making the best decision you could at the time with the information you had available.

Shubha

Dear Ganesh,
Read your article and liked it.I would like to add one more thing. There may be a person or two among fifty colleagues who just hate your rise and tries his best to defame you.He/She would spread canards against you and continuously try to poison others' mind against you.It is impossible to show any respect for them.........S.K.LIMAYE(MBA)

My friend,,
I appreciate your views which is a fact.
Christ was crucified, Mohammed Nabhi was sentenced to death who ran for life from Mekka to Madhina, Gandhi was assassinated and many such instances are there.
When our virtues and values are strong, these minuscule number of people can do nothing against us. They may be enjoy temporary success whereas we will win finally.

I could not say any thing to him as he has completed 1year n he is favorite of my Boss.so...Yesterday we have arranged an annual meeting cum Award Ceremony,in which whole meeting was handled by our RSM, ASM,& our Sr. Managers..But i have to handled the award ceremony even my boss has told me to handle whole award ceremony n even i was too excited for that i was ready with my speech..my accountant was knowing that i am here to present the award ceremony, he has played at a time that he has listed out my name to present the ceremony...I was waiting when my name will announced to present the ceremony...suddenly our BDM started to announce the award ceremony, i was shocked that, i would be there for the same but i was not.. i could not say any thing..but i had to pretend that every thing is fine but internally i was too much hurtd that wat's going over here...in the middle of the function my boss again came to me n told to announce last two important awards...but again he played a game...our sales executive came and announce the two important awards, again i could not say anything n pretended the same...even that employee was awarded with the title of Best employee of the Year, still i was happy with that... i am realy always facing the problem from him but can not say anything...wat can i do even... in this matter you are in questioned that how could i blame any one without any proofs.. i asked to our BDM n Sales engineer that who told them to present the ceremony they given me the same name on which i was fully doubted. Now how can i say to my boss all this matter as i dont want to spoil any 1ce image...& may be my Boss can feel that why I did not obeyed his order...

Dear Rajni,

I am sure you have watched Devil wears Prada. I have been through your situation, where a junior bullied me. Sounds pathetic, here's how it happened. The person was a pure Machiavelli , would act dormant and docile in front of power centres and torment me to my core in their absence. She would even go to work on off-days only to check into my network and access my data. She kept a record of my faults so neatly , that I didnt even have the option to show, how my privacy was running low. She wouldnt share any information or train me on what I need to deliver. I had to built the entire KT, to document how many ways was she hiding information.

Firefighting was all I did, till every details of her error started coming to me and was resolved by me. Eventually, my seniors noticed my effort and her dishonesty. Yes, I was promoted and she left no sooner.

Respect is for equals and evolved ones, and not for the ones who are insecure. I do have many co-workers from different organizations I worked with, who remain my angels till date.

Dear Rajani,
Read about your problem.Such game spoilers are there everywhere. They are simply saddists.Do what (Cite Contribution)979 did.Have faith in yourself and work hard.Your efforts shall surely be recognized and eventually rewarded.Remember these saddist people are really 'small' and shall never grow.Ignore her as much as possible and devote your energies in learning more and more and more.....The present employer is not the end of the world.Keep searching for excting oppertunities and go ahead !

Thank you Nabodita & Saibhakta for your precious support..
I will do the same as Nabodita did...
Your advice is gud Saibhakta, But i think to change employer in 6months it may spoil my profile performance. n of course another employer will ask me the reason to change the employer in 6months ...it could be difficult to answer them, that what was happened n for what i need to change..
