Dear Vamsi,

Their is no such requirements in OSHA. I had checked in NFPA 101, Life Safety Code they only mentioned the below points;

Periodic Testing of Emergency LIghting Equipment. A functional test shall be conducted on every required battery-powered emergency lighting systems at 30-day intervals for a minimum of 30 sec. An annual test shall be conducted for a 11/2-hr duration. Equipment shall be fully operational for the duration of the test. Written records of visual inspections and test shall be kept by the owner for inspection by the authority having jurisdiction.

Exception: Self-testing/self-diagnostic, battery-operated emergency lighting equipment that automatically performs a minimum 30-sec test and diagnostic routine at least once every 30 days and indicates failures by a status indicator shall be exempt from the 30-day functional test, provided a visual inspection is performed at 30-day intervals.

However., Please check the IE (Indiana electrical standard) hope their is no such requirements on IE as well on lighting.

Hope info helps.

Dear Vamsi
Regarding Illumination Level.
One extract of National Building Code is being attached for illumination level.
Another extract of Factory Rules , Number 35 and 36 is attached. Please note that the factory rules of your state is applicable. Hopefully it will give you an idea of requirement.
Regarding Frequency of Checking :
you are best judge. The best frequency is one at which you can ensure that illumination level is within the acceptable range in between two inspection. For record and evidence you can start with twice every year.
