attrition is normal...
it is as normal as life and death,, no one can prevent it and it is not threat to HR...
HR should be prepared for attrition and must know how to get manpower, in correct time because THIS IS WHAT FOR THE HR is BEING PAID, AND NOT TO PUT BLAME OF ATTRITION ON EMPLOYEES.
The HR should know how to effectively be prepared for the situation, and must know that business should not suffer because of attrition. For this there should be STRICT PROCEDURES regarding JOINING and RELEIVING, which I f followed can make any JOB easy... 
ok now i will explain what the HR wanted to tell u,, u should have asked that HR ,when ur changing ur job, then u will realise what attrition is.
take for eg, in BPO, 1000 professionals , i mean not professionals, i will call employees,,, join,
out of 1000,
there might be
400 students, pursuing studies, and doing job to earn for living and fees, their objective is to complete their studies, and get a job related to their domain.
200 must be joining just for heck of it, with no objective... no idea who ultimately leave from 1 day to 2 months time....
200 must be really not that much educated and hence have no option but to continue in working for the jobb..these people are most interested to make career in BPO
200 must not be having jobs related to their field hence joined BPO for fast BUCK, and when they get job in their related fields they leave jobs...
So out of our 200 good persons aspiring to make career in BPO,,,
only 3-4 who have good performance and good contacts in management will get as team leaders,
now out of remaining even if 100 are competent de will feel management did not help them and so de will leave,,
so ppl are bound to leave, any organisation...
and if u see, all those 1000 are right in their own way
SO THE HR NEEDS TO ACCEPT AND WORK AGAINST ATTRITION ,, LIKE THEY DO MONTHLY SALARY,,, instead of cribbing like why dont we prepare salary for once in two months, etc.... ATTRITION CAN HAPPEN ANYTIME , ANYWHERE....
SO DO UR JOB...
