Hi Swati..
Attrition rate is calculated on the basis of Manpower available, manpower available in the last month, resignation during that month and no. of new joiness in that month..
Attrition rate = No. of resignees / Available manpower * 100
Available manpower will be calculated by adding no. of new joinee and deducting resigness of that month in Manpower of last month..
This formula will give you attrition rate of one particular month..
But similarly you may calculated the same for a year, regionwise attrition rate.. hierarchy wise attrition rate.. education wise and more on..
It helps the management to make decision..
Hope it must have helped you to overcome your problem and come out with a number of such reports..

Amit Seth.

Dear Amit,
I have a querry based on your reply. If two people resign during a month and their replacement also joins in the same month.
If we apply your formula, it would say that attrition is zero percent. How will you justify this?
Awaiting your reply.
