Hi All.....
I hadn't known bout so many differences b/w a CV & Resume. What we were taught was CV is for people who have got work experience and Resume is for freshers...! Good to know so many differences.
Pls avoid using Bio Data, the reason is given by most of them who have posted above....

Hi,
You have got so many replies... Thats good...
As far as difference between CURRICULUM VITAE and RESUME is concerned, the term CV is used when the job seeker/candidate/applicant is a FRESHER, when he/she applies for the job as fresher or for the first time whereas RESUME is used when the person is already having some experience and when he is looking for a change in job. So CV for freshers and RESUME for experienced applicants but common thing is both of them reveals about the profile of the applicants.
Hope i am clear to you.
Thanks,

The posted Resume can be a little impresive. The person reviewing the profile must feel the drive to read it or at least go thru it. Rgds Achu

hai friends...
resume is "a summary, as of one's employment, education, etc., used in applying for a new position."
curriculum vitae (C.V.) is noted as "a regular or particular course of study of or pertaining to education and life."
Bio-data : information relating to a particular person and his or her financial, professional, or educational history, stored in a database and used, e.g. in banking, job recruiting, and marketing ( takes a singular or plural verb )

HI MS.SNEHA
I M NOT AGREE, WHAT I EXPERINCED, PROFILE IS ENTIRELRY FOCUSED ON PROFESSIONAL DATA, LIKE YOUR KRA, REPORTING, ORA, ETC. BUT NOT CONTAINS UR EDUCATIONAL OR PERSONAL DATA.
MEAN TO SAY PROFILE IS A SUBSET OF RESUME OR CV

The primary differences between a resume and a curriculum vitae (CV) are the length, what is included and what each is used for. A resume is a one or two page summary of your skills, experience and education. While a resume is brief and concise - no more than a page or two, a Curriculum Vitae is a longer (at least two page) and more detailed synopsis.
A Curriculum Vitae includes a summary of your educational and academic backgrounds as well as teaching and research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, affiliations and other details. In Europe, the Middle East, Africa, or Asia, employers expect to receive a curriculum vitae.
In the United States, a curriculum vitae is used primarily when applying for academic, education, scientific or research positions. It is also applicable when applying for fellowships or grants.

An individual should use the world for his application for new employment.
1 Bio-Data - If qualifications and experience are very limited and applying to a junior post like peon, security guard, Gardner etc. Bio data contains biological detail as name-DOB, sex, marital status, address, minimum qualification, any experience.
2 Resume - This world is used by a fresher who have some more information’s to provide. In this he explained his qualifications, training and project detail also.
3 C.V. - This word is generally used by an experienced person whenever he is going to take a change. In this he plugs his all detail about biological, Qualifications, achievements, experience and work profile.
