Hi,
I think the letter of extension of probation period is a good one but legally it is imporatant to refer to the clause in the letter of appointment or staff rules. In other words no organisation is legally permitted to extend the probation period unless mentioned in the terms of employment. Most of the staff rules clearly mention that the performance will be reviewed at the end of the probation period and the organisation reserves the right to extend the probation period by 3/6/indefinite period ... It is important that we mention this clause in the extension letter to indicate to the employee that we are in lines with the staff regulations.
I hope i haven't made it complicated. This is to be on the safe side.
Cheerio !!
