You could consider issuing gift vouchers to ur employees. These days a number of retailers like Shoppers Stop etc offer such vouchers in varying denominations and the employees can redeem them against purchases. Wud make the employee and his family happy.

Hi
Just thought i should put in some ideas to you, since our company doesnot have the policy to give any gifts to anyone on Diwali, we have our employee cultural club that plays a role in that. Our employee numbers are high and there are budget constraints what we did last year was that we gave away 2 handmade colourful matti (in hindi) diyas, these brought great significance to the festival of light and along with it we sent a tray of sweets around the office.
Then the usual traditional day is always declared.
One very special thing that my company follows is gifting our pantry boys from the hospitality section. These are good gifts , mainly house hold items of reasonable quality and value.Just thought i should share this with you.
Have a lovely Diwali in advance and enjoy.

Hi khushnum,
Many thanks for your post on this topic..
Hmm..that a good idea..but in our case the numbers are not high at all..so we do give gifts to staff and customers..
If the numbers are high..it makes sense to have the traditional day..just like our college days..this a good one..
Yup you are right as they need to be looked after..even we give the workers some household gifts as well..one thing we make sure the gifts are same for all right from MD to workers..
Thanks & same to you & your family...

Hi Pallavi..
Don't you want to avail the opportunity to sign one day contract with us?!!...
Jokes apart..we just finalised the gifts..
Here it goes..
For all the staff on the rolls of the company..
* They all must BUY one branded shirt from Park Avenue/Raymonds amounting to Rs 1000/- and present the bill to company for reimbursement. Mind you only ONE shirt...
* Imported Choclates Ferro Rocher - Rs 500/a pkt - to all & the clients.
