PAPER BOATS

Resources- Old Newspaper

Divide the participant into the team of 4 to 5 member each.

Ask team members to select there team leader.

Then take all the team leaders out of the that place & explain them the activity by demonstrating them yourself "How to make paper boats" the ones we learned in our school"

Having demonstration ask them if they have understood the same. give them one small square piece of paper & ask them to make one so that you are assured that they have understood how to make paper boats.

Now instruction for Team Leaders:

1. Give them 4 sheets for each team (4 pages of Newspaper - rectangular in shape)

2. your job is to build 40 boats all of the "same size" & all must stand & should not sink flat.

3. Quality (shape, finishing, appearance) & quantity both ar eimportant.

4. Time frame is 15 Minutes.

Now let them complete the task give them 15 minutes.

After completing the task ask them some questions

1. Did the team leader clarify the goal to the team members?

2. Roles clarified the team as to who will do what?

3. Did the team members get overwhelmed by the activity or understood what is important?

4. What was there focus while making boats a) completion b) focus on quality

5. Did the team ask for clarification role/goal?

6. was there any planning of newspapers, people & the time available?

By this game you can teach them that management of time is very important.

Dear Sneha,
Hope this helps you.
Make team of 4 to 5 people. Let them decide there leader. Now what you have to do is, give one subject to each team, this can be anything, and let them prepare for 15 minutes. Rule is Every member of the team should speak about the topic at least for a minute. This would might be useful in both way i.e How much effectively the team works in given time as well as communication skills and team work.

Divide the group into teams (based on size), and give them each a large glass container. The object is to fill their containers with as much materials as they can. The materials are rocks, stones, gravel, sand etc.. (But you can use anything.) The larger materials should be placed in the container first, and then followed by the next to the largest, and so on... In this order you should be able to fit the most into the container.

You can come to your own conclusion for the activity based on your need. The rocks (due to size) would be the most important items to complete. (Can be home activities...work/life balance.) Then stones would be every day has to finish items. Gravel can be the projects that need completed. Sand could be the extra work that was just assigned to you.

Allow the groups to fill their own container without detailed instructions. Tell them to fill their containers with as much materials as they can. And then we talk about the order they selected. If they had an order...and what the materials represents to them...etc. Use this communication to lead into training by saying the jar is the day u have (24 hours) u can fill it up with sand (not so important tasks) and have no space for the bigger stones (very imp tasks) or fill it up smartly and then in the end pour a cup of coffee into it.. to emphasize.. u r never so busy as not to have a coffee with friends n family :-)
