Hi All,
I would like to organise 2012 Safety Campaign in our Head office & for that i have couple of things in my mind like presentations, videos, posters, anamoly hunting, etc...
I would like to know if somebody has some ideas where we can involve employees participation like some quizes, workshops, games, etc where there will be more interaction & participation of employees.
Wait for your suggestions,
Aarti

Dear Aarti

Nice to see you seeking help on Safety topic in our citehr EHS forum... Hope to see your active participation here in future too...

Your ideas are seems good... But I not fully get how you are going to execute these.... You are planning to organize some competition or what? If you plan to do competition how you are executing this with videos, presentations? What you mean by anamoly hunting?

I would like to share following method we adopting for NSD celebrations... Our main aim is to create more awareness among employees towards accident prevention... So following is the effective way:

1. Safety Quiz. You have already mention it. How to execute in effective manner is the next question. Your quiz should be very specific to your plant and safety systems. What we did is we declare well in advance that we will be conducting quiz purely based on our "Safety Standards"... This make all employees to go through the standard documents again... This will help to refresh their learning's and however this is our main aim in conducting such safety quiz competition. You can either conduct the quiz further online or written quiz or among a group of employees. it's up to you... Quiz can be organized for various level of employees start from contract workmen...

2. You can think of organizing Exhibition Stalls on Safety Standards... Like one stall for Work At Height Safety Standard other one for Confined Space Entry, etc... In these stalls you can display what all safety features which you are adopting in your plant or supposed to be adopted for these jobs... All employees can have a look on these stalls for learning... Give responsibility of making these stalls to your separate departments or peoples... This is very good way of involving people.... This time we are making permanent exhibition stalls with a name "Safety Park" for our plant...

3. You can organize Safety Play (Drama) Competitions... May be department wise or position wise... If more departments you can give theme of the play well in advance to avoid repetition of the message conveying....

4. Safety Song / Poem Competition can be organized

5. On the Spot Safety Poster Competition among employees, housewives, children's, etc is a good idea...

Hope our forum members will add more into the list... Once you celebrate the NSD surely let us know what all you organized??? Anything unique if you conducting surely let us know for adopting the same....

All the best...

Dear Arti,
You may also organize "SAFETY MERATHAN", starting from your head office & after a run of city, ending at head office only. You may ask management to distribute T-Shirts or Caps of your company for all participants of Merathan Race.
OR
You can have "JHANKI" competition among all departments at HO, if it is spacious enough.
OR
You may organize a competition of finding maximum unsafe conditions by the employees. For this you may make teams of employees & send them in plant for any bound time. And every team will come with a list of unsafe conditions in plant. The team, which will find the maximum unsafe condition, will win.
See, if it may help you?

Dear Inderjeet
Nice to see your inputs to the thread... I would like to get some clarifications on your post, if you don't mind please let me know:
1. What is actually mean by "JHANKI" Competition? How will execute? How it will help in prevention of accidents or creating more awareness among employees towards safety?
2. The same question again on How "Safety Marathon" will help in prevention of accidents or creating more awareness among employees towards safety? If you ever conduct this can you upload or send me over mail some photos of this event for more understanding.

Dear Dipil,

I would like to clear both my points one by one.

1. "JHANKI" means showing anything artificially with the help of a team. We may show two situations together for same work, one would be safe & another would be unsafe. Also there would be a person to explain the both conditions. First of all in the first situation, we will explain the unsafe conditions & the hazards. Then in second situation, we will show the safe working of the same situation & explain the benefits. e.g. One JHANKI may have two scene of "Working at height", one without proper PPEs & another with PPEs.

2. MERATHAN is nothing but "Sadbhawana Daur". Employees will run together to show their interest in SAFETY. In the Merathan, we may distribute the safety booklet to people with some common topics like traffic safety, so that people of town will also understand that "how safety conscious we are?".

Also these were my ideas. I have never done it. Please refer the Raghu's reply, he is trying the same. He may have the photos.

I hope that I cleared your doubts. If not, feel free to clear it again.

thanks a lot Dipil for your fantastic ideas.

Regarding excuting some of my ideas - we are orgainising safety campaign throughout the month in our offices & plants. As i am based in Head office (where we need to think twice on the activities as the environment is very different from the plants). I was thinking to organise

1. an interactive speech by our managing director

2. showcasing the different safety related teasing posters in cafeteria and have an interactive session with employees about what they think about these. this is basically to invite employees for the discussions

3 displaying videos ofcourse safety related

4. Anamoly Hunting - in this we will encourgae employees to find the unsafe conditions in head office by doing some photography.

5. Theme discussions - we are planning to make around 10 teams & assign a safety theme to them for the discussions

6. Safety quizes - i am still hunting to find questionaire/ answers specifi related to head office safety

I really like your proposed ideas like Safety play (but i do not know how much this can be planned in our office); Safety poster competition (though this activitiy is very traditional in our office :-));

Thanks again :-)

1. Nutrition
2. Yoga
3. Meditation
4. HIV Aids
5. Road Safety
6. Defencive Driving
7. Food Habits
8. Occupations affecting Cancer, Nervous System Damage, White Fingure Disease specific to hazards
To add to Dipils list, Debate in favor and against some subjects related to safety.
After completion pl share the details in the forum for the benefits of beginers.
