Dear Seniors,
I am requesting your advise reg my salary increment. I am working as a Front Office Executive in a IT firm for the last 1.3 years. I am getting the salary of what I was receiving from my previous company. I would like to ask for 30% salary hike from the management. Is is right to ask for hike within 1.3 years of joining..? If so, how can i approach them? 30% is normal or high??? I am confused.. Please advise.
Kindly note: I didnt discuss anything about the salary increment when i was interviewed. I should have discussed at the time of interview. but missed... and confusing now. Kindly advise.... hoping for your soonest reply :)
Thanks & Regards,

You can discuss the matter with your reporting manager. It is not advisable to give any kind of expected increment 30% or 20% or whatever. Just see how much they give and then make your expectations clear. Make sure you have very clear and good performance record. It will be discussed. Number of years that you spend in an origination does not qualify you for increments or promotions, your performance does.

Hi Priya,
companies normally do an annual appraisal, so if you are part of the appraisal cycle you can discuss during your appraisal time, else you can speak to you reporting manager about your salary increment in your next meet.
i dont think 30% will be given as annual appraisal, you can discuss about ur hike may be with 15 - 20% hike.
normally 30 - 40% hikes are given for promotion or wen we move to other companies.
discussing about your move of joining this co. without increment isnt going to yiled any benefit hence not replying to that part.
Be crisp clear about your discussion, keep a open mind for feedbacks too. hope dat clarifies, incase of further queiries please revert back.

Hi Priya,
What ever it is, i think you dont discuss on your hike of increment. Because you may be in performance cycle and better to fulfill KRA of 100%. if you ask the increment and all, your boss may be dissarppoint with you.
All the best
thanks

Dear Priya,
I, am also facing the same issue..
I, would like to share what I did...
I went to my reporting manager & had a detailed discussion explaind abt my expences, cost of living etc etc...& request him to put the request the HR for an increment....Then I had a HR round of talks & I got a chance to explain my self that its been over a year & I have changed my company without any increment...Thankfully they acknowledged my request & hiked my salary...
The purpose of my telling the story is your mamager is the key to hike your salary...Explain your stance in best way to your manager...
ALL THE BEST.......!!!!!!!!

Dear Priya,
There is nothing wrong in asking a Hike after 1.3 yrs. You may be in appraisal but talk to your reporting person regarding your hike and explain him/her in a way that you didnt discuss regarding your payscal at the time of interview, also cost incurred and cost of living. Then you may get a salary hike. Talk to your reporting person when he/she is free.
