I am resigning from an organisation where EPF was deducted and joining another organisation not deducting EPF in probabation period(2 years).
I want to know if EPF account can remain idle for 2 years and can it be activated after two year.

Hello,
EPF has nothing to do with Probation period...
As far as my knowledge is concerned employee gets registered within one month of joining....(as per rules and regulations of PF Act)
And 2 years probation period??????????........isnt this too much..generally it is 6 months.....i have first time heard that probation period is this much long..
Our friends will throw some light on this....

What Chaitali has said is absolutely right. The probationary period is usually for 6 months or to a maximum for 1 year. Even under propationary period you will be application for EPF deductions.
Request Senior members to give their inputs.

I am agree with all Chaitali and Dilnaz has said..
But i would like to give one suggestion, better you withdraw your previous PF contribution from the previous employer..
For that you may apply after 60 days of separation from the organisation.. with filling up Form 10C and Form 19.. along with the No dues certificate of the Previous employer..

Your E.P.F. account will remain Idle for the period in during which you and employer is not contributing towards your E.P.F. Account. and as per act this period will be treated as NON - CONTRIBUTORY PERIOD.

Yes the same may be activated by two years if you start to contribute towards in your existing account.

Moreover, In principal , an employee shall be covered from day one of his employement there is no question of probation or regular etc., under EPF & MP Act - 1952

Surprisingly your company has two years probation period which is neither in practice nor feasible or ethical, rather a malpractice. Even you are in probation your employer is under obligation to enroll you as a member of e.P.f. other wise it will be a voilation of Act.

if your employer covers you as a member of E.P.F. than only you can transfer your previous accumulation of P.F. A/c. given by your last employer (Fill form 13 and process it through your existing employer).

and Last option with you to withdraw the accumulation of your p.f. by filling Form 10C (for Pension Fund if previous contribution less than 10 years) and Form 19 (For P.F. Accumulations).

hello all.
i think Dr. rajesh verma will be getting a consolidated pay.If the compnay is paying a consolidated pay then management has no obligation to contribute epf.
please correct if iam wrong.

Thanks a ton for such a clear explanation. I do have a Query:
" Is it possible to contribute voluntarily in EPF and EPS?"
Mr. X is new to our org. He is a member of EPF and EPS.
our org. is not covered under the PF Act.
Till now this employee has neither opted for withdraw nor transfer of his PF amount. is it possible that he can voluntarily contribute to his above stated accounts.
Pls throw light on this issue.
