Revision in office timing suggestion - what should be the office timings and if saturday office should be allowed?
Dear seniors our office and warehouse is in mumbai maharashtra.i want suggestions regarding office timing if it needs to be changed. since some staff are requesting that we should have saturdays off. i think we should have either 2 saturdays off or 8 hours working. the directors opinion is that since the staff takes lot of breaks reducing working hours is not a good idea. and since the performance has not been good we cannot allow saturdays off for the time being. following are the working hours and breaks taken by staff in the office. it s monday to friday 9:00 am to 6:15 pm working and saturday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm working.15 minutes grace for late coming. paid short leave for 2 hours allowed for 2 days a month. in case of appointments emergencies etc break timing is of half an hour which happens in 2 batches. 1:00 to 1:30 pm and 1:30 to 2 pm. we also do 15 minutes of exercise activity in office. apart from this staff also take other short breaks such as breakfast namaztwice cigarete etc. please let me know your opinion and suggestion on what should be the office timings and if saturday office should be allowed.

Hello everyone i am working in a growing media co. as hr executive the working hours over here is 10 hours i.e from 10 am 8 pm though in some companies today what they mention on the papers eg 6pm employees have to extend the time by 1 or 2 hours but as already the work time is 10 hours is it appropriate?? sometimes even if i don t have any work then also am forced to stay back till 8:pm... kindly suggest reasons on the basis of which the timings can be changed as my hr manager is following the same therefore its difficult to raise voice against it. though one of the colleague is working from 10 7pm but when quoted this she got angry. kindly help
What should be the ideal work timings for 6 day working company?
Wanted to know what should be the ideal work timings for 6 day working company as there are no half days on saturday as per labour law it says 9 hours in a day should not exceed more than 48 hours in a week ideally if we work for 9 hours then it goes to 54 hours in a week. in this scenario employee always feel that we are working for more hours in a week. can we ask management to reduce it by 30 mins on a daily basis. which means 8.5 hours inclusive of 30 mins lunch break a day and 51 hours in a week
Jungle rule in office - no policies being followed
Hi all our company is in a big mess. we are a kpo with two shifts day and night. i am the hr manager for both the shifts. day shift timings 8am to 5 pm. night shift timings 6pm to 3 am. my timings 10am to 6 pm or sometimes 7 pm. i am a female recently got married in feb 09. so cant stretch more. the problem is: 1there is alot happening in the night shift which i donot come to know. even the project mangers of the night shift have started their own rules laws for the employees. 2 they have started making groups. they keep that person in the team who works under them as labour and for as many hours they say. 3they kick off the genuine employees who wish to rise in their career that they ll replace them one day making false technical reports about them which cant be questioned. 4the company has become stagnant and a kind of jungle rule have started prevailing. 5no policy is being followed. kindly suggest how should i stop and control all this. please seniors. thanks vineet
Maximum working hours per day as per indian labour law
I am working in three shift rotation. the shift timings are 8 am to 4 pm 4 pm to 12 mid night & 12 mid night to 8 am. some times i have to work for 24 hrs a day if my releaver does not turn up on duty. request you to kindly give me the information about the maximum working hours per day as per indian labour law if i work for 24 hrs for a day please specify whether i am elegible for dues from employer / insurance company if any mishap happens.
Regarding extra working hours
Hi sir/ mam i am working as an hr in it company in mohali. present employee strength is 20 .i have a query regarding extra working hours in my office. our office timings are from 9:00am to 6:30pm. normally we allow people to reach office by 9:20max. after 9:20am if a person is coming without informing we mark half day . recently we have framed a new policy regarding overtime hours for our team members. if anyone is working after 7:00pm we keep a separate record of that many hours daily . if it comes out to be 8 hours after the total addition we add one leave to his/her account for that particular month. i would like to explain this using an example : if any employee left the office at 8:00pm 1 hour added and the next day she comes at 9:45pm we deduct that many hours from the previous day hours means she is late by 25 mins so subtract 25 mins from the previous day hours and so on... . however personally i am not convinced regarding this as i feel that we are not able to set a discipline in the office. earlier we use to reward employee every month with the "star performer of the month" award keeping in view his extra working hours as well as other parameters. i would like you to please guide me regarding this policy. is it correct ? i would really appreciate if you could suggest me some other alternative . looking forward to hear from you soon thanks and regards divya manocha hr manager
