Dear ,

PM : was more towards the employee welfare.

HRm : aligining the individual goals tp the organisational goals , in such a way that when the individual goes to achieve his personal goals orgnisational goals are acheived at the longer run.

Eg: A faculty of an academic institute enrolls for Ph.d , as an individual she get her Doctrate ...and the orgnisation get a Professor......

I am also forwarding you a detailed note on a PM v/s HRM( someone had presented it here a few days ago) .

Regards,

Deepali.Raheja.

HR consists of HRM and HRM.
First manage your resources and then develop.
HRM & D is an evolutionary stage of Personnel Management. The term HRM & D came into use in early 1990’s. Before that it was called as Personnel Management.

Dear Sangapu,
PM is oriented towards old traditional role like maintaining personal files, issuing promotion order etc while HRM is more oriented towards developmental aspects of employees

hiii the difference between HRM and personnel management is HRM encompasses those activities designed to provide for and coordinate the human resource of an organization whereas personnel management is the function performed in organization that facilitates the most effective use of people to achieve organization and individual goals.
