I'm Vaishali here, even m a new graduate working from past two months so i dont know how much can i help u...
As far as i know abt dress code for interviews...it is preferable to wear cotton salwar kameez (possibly those starched ones or ne thing very decent) without ne shimmer n chamki on that....
well sarees are also good, and the same thing for this also no shimmer n cotton is good.
not necessary to wear blazers if u dont have..or if u dont prefer..
well i hope this helps you out..
all the best for ur interviews. | |

Unless your interview is with an ad agency or some creative innovation company (do your homework before you dress & go), as a general rule of thumb - PLEASE go FORMALLY DRESSED for any interview. Cotton or material is relevant to the weather of the place where you are attending.
As Vaishali said - avoid chamki and stuff like that.
This is irrespective of whether the interviewer is senior or junior.
Hope this clarifies things.

Thanks a lot.
I knew that you are supposed to dress up formally for any interview.
But just wanted to confirm is there any particular dress code for interviews.
Because I happened to hear from my friends that salwar kameez is not formal enough for any interview and you need to wear sarees.
Just wanted to confirm about it from the seniors who are already in the field.
Thanks once again

Wear perfect and comfortable dress for an interview.
Well i believe sarees are diffcult to manage but the Cotton Salwar kameez would be suitable.
As Vaishali said: Avoid shimmer n chamki on ur dress.
It is not necessary to wear a blazer.

In my opinion and as per what i have observed...salwaar kameez does not constitute formal wear. Either it should be cotton sarres or it should be formal trousers.
However the thumb rule is be comfortable otherwise no point you wear a dress and are not comfrtable carrying it.
But i would suggest if you are going for a senior level position then wear a saree. For entry level even salwaar suits would go as usally freshers apply for these jobs and since they are straight from college they can be expected to be more comfi in suits than in sarees.

I think the dress should be formal and should give you a smart look. A clean neat look. Starched cotton , whether it is saree or churidar , with pleasing ,soothing colours combinations will be nice. After dressing in a simple but elegant mode, look at the mirror and it you feel confident, that is the best dess for your interview.
good luck

Also many times it depends on the kind of industries you are going for the interview whether it is conservative ( wear a simple well coordinated dress) or casual like IT or hospitality related industries( wear very formal dress).
So, dress for the job you want.
