Hello to all....
I am soniya, i am working newly in one of the IT company. As before i have joined the company there was not any hr department here. The problem here is such a like that... i am a fresher, as a fresher i have put my best to deal with all HR & admin department. But, thing is that the company is good and growing but it is small i.e. 12 people are working. I am trying to implement all HR activities starting from recruitment but some of the HR practices i can not apply here because as it is the small company so many of the things has been practiced by department head i.e. training & all. I have already read all such relevant material here regarding HR activities & policies. But, my question is how can i tackle in this situation? I love my HR work but i couldn't find it is working... so, i am little bit disappointing....
Please help me out if this problem, because here i need advice and guidance which only i get from all you experienced....

Dear Soniya,
It is not such a big issue. I know that since you are a fresher brimming with ideas and have joined a small sized company, you feel you want to implement new things and learn more of practical HR.
Since the size of the company is small, the first thing you can do is to draft policies for employees. You can look at drafting policies for Leave, Attendance, salary payment, travel, accommodation, employee benefits which are currently in force.
As a next step, you can look at implementing an appraisal system for the employees. This can be a simple format, with measurement of goals and reward.
Further, you can look at implementing a policy for employee life cycle. I.e. Recruitment, Joining formalities, orientation, transfer, separation.
Do understand that a lot that we learn in our business schools may not be practical to be implemented, since it varies with industry, size of employees, city, culture of the organisation etc. A lot can be gained from looking at best practices in other companies and brushing up your knowledge. Even if we try, we cannot change the world overnight.
In management parlance, try to pick the low hanging fruits and then look at newer ideas and implementations. All the best.

Hello sir,
Thank-you so much for your reply and your guidance... you have provided me such a good information.... but, here i have one more question.....
I have already made policy for the company and i am working on performance appraisal.... but, the thing is that sometimes i feel that my policy is not working... e.g. i have planned for giving any particular kind of training to employees but it already given by Team Head, then what can i do... i want to put HR activity which positively change the organisation and give contribution in a company's success.

Is the training the only thing that you feel you want to do, and has already been done before? The best thing to do would be to ask the Seniors on what has been done till now. And work on the policy/ next course of action accordingly.
The key to success to any policy or change is to look at what works in the organisation and implement accordingly. Getting the key stake holders (Management, Heads, Employees) involved in any major policy decision or process change will always yield positive results.

Ya sir training about the work... so, i am little bit confuse that what kind of training i will give to employees...
Sir.. you support me a lot...thank-you for that...
so, sir here one more question... in our company my boss told me that there is a quality complaint from clients... so sir in that regards what kind of steps i can take?
