HI
I am a student of management at JMI seeking to pursue a career in HR. I am doing a project on compensation benchmarking for blue-collar workers in the automobile industry. I am finding it difficult to obtain relevant data about the compensation standards prevailing. Kindly, suggest me how to go about the project and also what techniques to use.
Regards.

Did you choose the topic or was it assigned to you? If you chose it, on what basis did you chose? Compensation packages in firms are not easy to gather as they are confidential.
Have a nice day.

Thanks for writing. The topic was assigned to me. I did my homework and have actually prepared a questionnaire. i understand that such information is highly sensitive. therefore, i am seeking some professional contacts who can help me out.

Dear Arham,
I have studied your questionnaire briefly. A fe pointers:
1. It's not enough to say how useful it is for you. If you say, you will give them a copy of the consolidated results without disclosing which company does what, then you may get more response. They would like to know "What is there in it for me for spending time."
2. Its always better to ask demographic details in the end rather than at the outset. Please see my posts where I have given links to questionnaire design.
3. Is it an individual or group project. if it is individual, why the use of the royal "we"?
4. It is too much to expect people to download your questionnaire, answer, save, and then send it as an attachment. Please consider using a web-based survey.
I would not think you will get many responses by posting the survey questions here. You have send it to firms and hope for the best.
Have a nice day.
