hi all ,
now we are planning to hike the salary for employees there is a difference in basic salary for employees with in the same CTC so we are decided that not raise the basic salary for some employees this is correct ? please help me in this
EXAMPLE :
Employee 1 ( Gross Salary 15000 )
Basic : 7500

Employee 2
Basic :5000
Now hike for those two we are decided not to raise employee 1 basic but employee 2 get 7500 as basic salary to maintain the uniformity
this is the right way ??????

Dear Sathish,
It depends to certain extent that whether your firm is located in a Metro or Non-Metro.In case if CTC is kept same then basic may be decided as 40-50% of net.It depends from Company to company.
Moreover, often the problem arises when the same is discussed among two employees.

It is 40% of net for non metro and 50% of net for metro usually followed pattern. That is you can adjust it anywhere between 40 to 50% and their is also called special allowance which is there to adjust salary factor.
Rest what nature of industry are you in??

Dear Sathis,
Same problem i face, but you get your director permission and SALARY RE STRUCTURING.
take all employee in confedance and change this.
And salary is a confidencial & private. So do not declare.

  • It seems you are not following uniform salary structure and you want to make it uniform.
  • Increment time is the right time to correct problems in structure, so go ahead and do it.
  • Do proper study and comparison, present your proposal to management, get it approved and implement it. Try and see to it that, rise given in CTC is either uniform or linked to performance and justifiable, across the grade, so that there won't be complaints from employees.
  • There is no thumb rule as suggested by Mr. MK about %age of basic against gross or net salary.

It is not necessary to increase the basic salary you may add in sp allowance or other benefits
