Dear All,
I'm working as COO in a Dubai based multicommoditites trading Company & asked to prepare a tripartite agreement between the CEO, myself & our VP - finance. I want to prepare this in such a way that we are able to secure ourselves (myslef & VP - finance) against unnecessary termintation (without valid reason).
Further, i am recruting a VP - Sales, for whom i require an Employment contract. Our company doesnt have an HR setup as yet in UAE, which is forcing me to prepare all tehse documentation.
Kindly send me these documents, as im being asked to submit them today itself.
thanks,
Sats Nair

Is this post for real? Or, is someone playing jest on citehr?
I cannot believe (even for 1 second) that a COO of an organisation will be requesting templates (online) for fundamental and key documents such as an Employment Contract. Please tell me that this is not a belated April Fools joke!
But, just that 0.001% chance that this really isn't a joke, then you can find a wonderful range of templates at Microsoft's partner sites available through Microsoft Office gateway. They cover almost all legal requirements and I have used them myself previously.
I hope this helps!

dear gaurav,
i have just joined the company (new startup) on profit sharing basis & wants to secure our positions using a contract.
further, we are getting new guys in.. including HR. till that time, we cant stop issuing contracts. so, dont go back in time .. to April 1st. come back to Apr 25th.
understand that each small startup companies may not have their own HR setup, until its established in th market.
hope you understand.
regards,
Sats

Dear Sats,

Thank you for your transparent reply and my apologies for doubting the efficacy of your post. But, I am sure you too would find it odd for a COO to write a similar post. Because, it is assumed that in the journey to reach such senior positions, an individual has dealt with many such moments. But, that's not the point of why I write this reply.

Having read the details you provided in your second post, I really want to make a suggestion.

Please get a good lawyer to draw your contract. Believe me, you want it done right the first time around. Because, if things go belly-up in the future, all verbal promises and understandings stand null and void. All that will prevail is the written and signed contract. I realise that lawyers are not cheap, but then, neither is a profit-share arrangement. You're going to be giving this venture all your life's training, learning, experiences, knowledge etc... And, if I was your best friend, I would be ringing as good a commercial lawyer that my money could buy and getting your contract done through him/her.

Also, I realise that you are short for time. Please negotiate for more time. As a COO, your voice has to be heard. And, if it isn't, then maybe you should re-evaluate your participation in the venture itself! I realise this is a harsh suggestion, but like I said earlier, its just too important a document to be given pressed timelines for.

And, I don't preach to you. I have walked away from opportunities similar to the one you mention, purely because the other party(ies) wanted to hurry my contract. Maybe I incurred a financial loss, but, at least I didn't start a new venture stressed from day 1. But, that was my decision given my circumstances. I am sure you will make yours based on yours. But, whichever way you go, I implore you to please get this document prepared and executed professionally.

I wish you and your family a truly abundant life!

Thanks for the reply Gaurav.. we are doing good now. As mentioned in my reply, I'm not only an employee in the firm, but has profit share too.
We have recruited around 65 people & the Org is running really well.
We have outsourced some of our Operational tasks, which helped in bringing down the staff strength to <70.
