I have done MBA-HR & working in a small company as Asst Executive -HR. But the name is only HR.
There nothing related with HR. So I want to change my job. I have already asked a query about this in one of our discussion sections. But many suggested that I should continue the job.
But if I continue the job then will this experience as an Administrator will give me a good job as HR Executive?
Does admin experience is counted for HR Jobs?
To make a career in HR is this Admin job ok?
Should I change my job before its too late?
Please guide me. I m very confused. I need you help as sonn as possible

hi kunal
In some organizations, when there is no HR department
administrators would handle some of the HR functions - like Induction, Leave management, joining formalities, training etc.
could u give ur job responsibilities
that would help the forum members to reply
regards

Dear Kunal,
keeping various Ragisters, liasioning with the govt dept, in house enquiries, house keeping and other activities are also useful for the career.. i don't think so that, this experience will make a harm to your career. But don't be so choosy about the profile.

Hi
If you really want to get into hardcore HR in some good company where HR Fuctions like performance Appraisals, Compensation Management, T&D, Empoyee relations, recruitment etc are there, then I think you should start looking for a change before its too late. Because the more is your work experience, more is the expectation of the interviewer from you. You know, in most of the companies, you might not get selected not because you are not capable of doing things but because you have not done those things. And then it would become very difficult for you to change the job. You would have to prove yourself extraordinarily only then you would be able to clear the interview, as there are plenty experienced HR professionals in the market.
It might not be that difficult for you if your luck favours.
I am telling you this from my experience. I think you should change the job.
Thanks

Hi Kunal,
Admin experience might not really be harmful to your career but in essence what you have listed are not core HR Functions. If there are posible career growth within your organization, you might inform your immediate supervisor of your desire and opprtunites could be given to you to learn and practise this HR Functions.
But if this is not allowed, you can start looking for another job but in the main time start learing from the web. There are good HR website that can teach you on these functions. You just need to google for HR functions and you will come across so many website and you can start learning and practising it bit by bit before you get that Job you are passionate about.

Dear Kunal,
As of my experience, Admin work is the base work for HR. Currently you are doing handling payroll, Employee Id Cards, Leave management , Filing work , cash management, etc. It doesn't matter.
One thing, You should be clear.I think you have started your career recently.
Get more articles and information about Performance appraisal etc..
and please get in clear with all subjects through and clear.
Wait for right time and put paper , add those work detailed in your resume..
Employee Relations
Employee Data Management
Statutory compliances
Policy making
Payroll processing
Maintaining MIS Report
Leave Management
Events Management
I think most of the profile, you are currently working in present company.
collect rest of the article and get prepared on that...
All the Best for Your HR Career !!!!
Cheers,
