Hello Mujib:

>... there are ethical issues on MBTI/ other tools that are to be used for develpmental purposes only.<

You are wise to raise the issue of the correct use of assessments.

If the assessment's publisher says the assessment should not be used for selection, the assessment should not be used selection.

>None of these tests can indicate what the person can do or cannot do, they do not provide insight into intellect or integrity.<

If we want to know if someone can do the job, we need to assess for knowledge and skills.

If we want an insight into their integrity, we need to assess for integrity.

If we want to know if a person will do the job in the manner it needs to be done and will enjoy the job for a long time, we need to assess for talent.

The whole person assessment we use does not require the end user to be be certified (trained yes, certified no) nor does it require interpretation by the end user--that is done by the software.

Hello Sumer:

>Selection is more a subjective matter than objective.<

Only if we don't hire for competence and talent.

>Can anyone tell me what are the best tools and practises for Recruitment.<

If you send me an email and request the "Testing and Assessment: an Employer's Guide to Good Practices", Employment and Training Administration U.S. Department of Labor, I'll send it to you, it should help.

Hi

I went through most of these postings beofore an organisation use these tests, it is better to have competency profiles done for all positions.

having done, you must select assement centre tests

I strongly feel MBTI can not be used for recruitment

Have a battery of tests . In India, an organisation who uses these tests effectively for more than three decads is Ashok Leyland. You can have an idea from them as how they have developed.

Thomas profiling is another tool you can use
