Head hunting is definitely part of recruitment...targeting the right person at right time by different means...like thru portals, paper ad, campus placements, or outsourcing to consultants..etc.
These are usual processes to recruit people, but there are innovative techniques to get the right person, poaching the competent from rival companies, if you can get one contact number, trying the references and reach the person, infact there are many ways, which look funny yet people practice to get the competent one...like they stand outside the gate where there is a walk in, and poach people or attend the interview like any candidate, and attract them to your company or age old techinque of poaching like calling the direct line, i have even seen people targeting public in the weekends at busy shopping malls...all this is part of head hunting...
