| | Suggestions/Guidance Hello friends! This is nagraju and am presently serving in Indian Air Force for the past 12 yrs and into administration. Recently I completed my PG Dip in HRM from IGNOU and awaiting my MBA (HR) result. Now I wish to come out of IAF and enter the corporate world where the career would challenging for me. I've already placed my resume in many job sites but the majority of offers i receive are for IT recruiters/recruiters/sr. recruiters in which I have no experience. Please guide me and help me on what all aspects to be looked into before applying for the designation of a recruiter. |

As Radhi said, Recruitment is the first step to get in to HR field. All you need is a confidence, communication and most important is a a zeal to learn new things. Just update urself about the latest trends of recruitment in the market. Make urself aware about the new technologies and strategies which are in boom in the industry. I am sure you will get along with this once you start working on recruitment.
All the best!

| | Re: Suggestions/Guidance Hi Nagaraj,
Welcome to the HR fraternity!!.
Kindly note that recruitment is the first step in getting into HR field. Let me caution you - be ready for a bumpy ride initially as people interacting with you might not know that you have armed forces background.
Next, the process of recruitment might not be as `structured' as in the armed forces. Be ready for some surprises. The requirement in HR goes by what the client wants and the business needs unlike in the armed forces - other HR/rect friends, guide me if i am wrong.
Thanks and all the very best.

I am also an Ex-IAF. My suggestion is wait for another three years to get your pension.
Next in the mean time study the service pattern of HR activities - Orderly room, UWO C AdmO and if possible Accounts.
Study the outside HR activities. Compare them.
I think in the mean time be a regular visitor of CiteHR which gives u the latest of HR activity. This will keep you informed.
