Need Information about Train the trainer programmes
Hi,
I'm currently freelancing as a soft skills trainer in Mumbai. I've done my masters in psychology and have worked at corporates and various institutes since the past 6 years.

I need some help and clarifications.

I have developed and used my own modules so far in training and most have been super successful. But now that I want to approach corporates for a full time position, I realise that I may need a certification such "soft skills trainer" or a 'train the trainer" programme. Is such a certification required for me to move ahead in this field?

and if i want to take such a certification where in Mumbai would be a good place to go. I have the following leads: Dale carnegie's programmes, Kaizer foundation, middle earth consultants. How valuable are the programmes these places offer?

Any more such places I could approach? appreciate any help/suggestions and motivation!!!

Re: Need Information about Train the trainer programmes
Hi Hvovi,

Train the Trainer programmes are always great because they give you a direction. Also for us trainers, we need to be evaluated by other traienrs to understand where we can improve. Attending Train the Trainer programmes helps us understand where we can improve, what is our training style, how we can reach a wider participant base while training etc.

Having said that, even if you attend the best Train the Trainer (TTT) and you are unable to apply it to your training, it won't help you! So if your aim is to attend a TTT in order to land a job, you can very well do without it. As a trainer, you will be asked to conduct a mock training; prepare thoroughly for it. If you are good at that, it should carry you through.

Also most companies will anyway put you through a TTT once you join them.

Rupa

You are welcome. yes I am a freelance trainer. I will definitely tell you when there is a TTT happening in Mumbai. are you ok with travelling abroad for a ttt or would you rather wait and let it happen in mumbai?

Hi rupa,
Travelling abroad not possible due to family reasons, but in mumbai or india is good.
Middle earth consultants (MEC) is having a TTT this month end and so is dale carnegie. Have you taken any of these courses?

Re: Need Information about Train the trainer programmes
Hi Hvovi,

I haven't attended either of these TTTs. What you probably need to look at is what is the training methodology and philosophy of these guys. If it gels with what you believe in and only if there is a match, should you go ahead with the TTT. If you don't believe in what they stand for and the way they conduct training, needless to say that you will not be able to deliver the training or you may not be comfortable while delivering-this will definitely affect the delivery and the training effectiveness will go for a big time toss!
And since that is not what you are aiming for - with or without the certification- this situation is highly avoidable. Also these TTTs are bound to be quite a substantial investment so I'd suggest that you make adequate enquiries before signing up for either of them.

All the Best to you.

Warm Regards

Rupa

Hello,

For more details on 'Train the trainers' program, please search for "Middle Earth Consultants" who are based out of Hyderabad for the details. It is a 2 day program. They do provide certification for the same.

They also have franchisees active in Bangalore.

Thanks & regards,

Re: Need Information about Train the trainer programmes
Hi Shikha,

What your freinds say about training is partly true! It is a lot of hard work, that's for sure.

but first things first. training is a commitment more than a job. you have to love doing it because it is exhausting-both physically and mentally. so if you don't love training, you will soon want out. there are many who thought that if they can talk-they can train- well it doesn't quite work that way and they have found it out the hard way!

first try to answer questions like why do you want to be in the field of training? if you answer this question honestly, your next steps will become clear.

do write if you have any further questions. my email id is
