There are basically three types of leaves. They are Casual leave or CL, Sick Leave or SL & Earned leave / Paid leave (EL/PL).In most organisation there are 7 SL & 7 CL. EL depends on the leave policy of the organisation.

Sir,
Is there any compulsion to give SL & CL. If it is compulsary minimum and maximum how many days we have to give/we can give and is it coming under any rule? Is there any problem, if we are not giving SL & CL?
Kindly reply please.

Dear Vidhu,
Little correction I would like to make..
Leaves are decided as per the act (Company act/ S&E Act) under which the company is being registered and the number of leaves vary from state to state.
PL is known as Privilege Leave not Paid Leave. Paid leaves are those which are granted with payment.

Dear Friend,
As per the Shops and Establishment Act., AP, Employees are illegible for three types of leave VIZ, SL (Sick Leave), CL (Casual Leave) and PL (Privilege Leave).
For an employee who works on roll of the company can avail leaves as below.
1. Casual Leave : 12
2. Sick Leave : 12
3. Privilege Leave: 15, PL is entitled to an employee when he/she completes one year (min of 240 days) service with the companies.
*******Leaves are calculated as per the calendar year not financial year.
I suggest you to buy a latest AP S&E Act book to have detailed knowledge in policy on above type of leaves.

Dear Manikyam,

CL stands for Casual Leave. It is given based on company's norms and regulations....In our manufacturing organisation, CL is given as 9 for a year on pro rata basis based on the number of days worked by an employee in the previous year...CL lapses at the end of every calendar year.

SL stands for Sick Leave. It is given based on company's norms and regulations....In our manufacturing organisation, SL is given as 8 for a year on pro rata basis based on the number of days worked by an employee in the previous year...SL is carried forward in case there are any left for the next calendar year...

PL stands for Privilege leave. It is also called as EL (Earned Leave) in some companies. It is given based on company's norms and regulations....In our manufacturing organisation, PL is given as 30 for a year on pro rata basis based on the number of days worked by an employee in the previous year...PL more than 90 days are encashed in ou company. PL if left in the current year are carried forward to the next next year....

Remember: All leaves are given on the calendar year....
